Garrett Highlands Pipes and Drums

The Garrett Highlands Pipes and Drums will hold a free seasonal concert at the Oakland armory as part of the 9th annual Joy of Christ Celebration. The band has been performing in concert and parade for over 25 years throughout the region. You are invited to attend and learn why it is believed that the shepherds at the time of Jesus' birth may have played bagpipes. Gerald McGee, the band's director, earned music degrees from Westminster College and Union Theological Seminary and continued to pursue post-graduate studies. His Masters Degree and primary interest was in organ and choral music. He studied conducting at Julliard School of Music and has been on the podium for a wide range of performances. He has performed at churches and cathedrals throughout the U.S. and Europe.
