Teal Steel


Teal Steel is a steel drum ensemble created in January of 2004. The group performs Caribbean and Latin style music as well as pop tunes and classic rock. Teal Steel has performed for many audiences at concerts, festivals, and special events throughout West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia. Recent appearances include a luncheon at the National Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD for recovering soldiers and the WV State Forest Festival in Elkins.

Teal Steel, directed by Fred Kesner, consists of 7th and 8th grade students from Frankfort Middle School in Short Gap, WV. The students learn to play the steel pans in their second year of instrumental music studies at the school and audition for Teal Steel each spring. The group has produced 4 CD's which are available at the band's performances.
